The world's largest selection of independent books
Finally, a bookstore devoted to self published authors. We want to sell your books. We are not just a bookstore, but a
place where authors can gather for their book signings, book readings, and poetry improv. Our store is located at
424 East 9th street in the East Village section of downtown Manhattan, a historic neighborhood which has a long tradition
of nurturing creative artists. Today the East Village continues innovating with cutting edge music and experimental
theater, and in the same spirit, is becoming a stage for the creative self published author. Freedom of the Press is one
of our most precious freedoms. In the tradition of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, and Gertrude Stein, self publishing
is one of the pursuits keeping that freedom alive.
Other self published authors such as Walt Whitman, Ernest Hemingway, Nathanial Hawthorne, Beatrix Potter,
would have qualified to be on our shelves. This is a rare opportunity to
place your book in front of over 8 million potential readers who live in New York City, and 40 million U.S. and
international tourists who visit New York City every year. Readings from your fiction, non-fiction, and poetry works can be
arranged and are encouraged in our backyard Literary Garden.
